The themes of Hamlet cover indecision, revenge and retribution, deception, ambition, loyalty and fate. Prince Hamlet mourns both his father's death and his mother, Queen Gertrude's remarriage to his father's brother, Claudius. The ghost of Hamlet's father appears to him and tells him that Claudius is responsible for his death. Hamlet swears revenge. One of the most powerful literary works in the English language, Hamlet's tale takes the audience on a journey through the human mind and experience, in a way that only Shakespeare can.
Antioch Classical Theatre Company is Antioch's first resident professional theatre company. Started in 2006, our goal is to bring students together with union artists in a professional environment focusing on creating quality performances for the community. Combining the resources of local and out-of-town artists, Los Medanos College, Antioch High School, and housed at the historic El Campanil Theatre, ACTC continues to present exciting theatre while offering beginning performers and technicians the chance to learn from working with career artists.
